The Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning invites the Saint Louis University community to the 2012 James H. Korn Scholarship of Teaching and Learning reception, honoring this year's recipient, Kara McBride, Ph.D., assistant professor of in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages. The reception will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the Pere Marquette Gallery in DuBourg Hall. Attendees are asked to RSVP online for this event.
One of the goals of the Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning is to promote faculty inquiry and scholarly research on teaching and learning. In 2006, the Center established the James H. Korn Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in recognition of the psychology professor emeritus' many contributions to research on teaching and learning.
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) involves asking questions about student learning and teaching activities; answering those questions by assessing student learning and effectiveness of teaching strategies; and publicly sharing results of this inquiry in a setting that invites peer review.
