Danielle Lacey has joined the Department of University Marketing and Communications as the new internal communications editor, primarily overseeing SLU Newslink and the SLU Newslink Daily Update email.
Formerly a copy editor at the Sioux City Journal, a daily newspaper in Iowa, Lacey is a recent graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she served on the school's daily newspaper.
One of only 11 college students in the country selected to receive prestigious Dow Jones internship, she worked for a summer on the evening copy desk of the Detroit News.
"Danielle is a talented editor, and I know her commitment, energy and enthusiasm will shine through in this new role," said Clayton Berry, assistant vice president for communications.
Lacey also embraces SLU's commitment to serving others. She is currently working with the Ferguson Youth Initiative (FYI), a joint effort in which Ferguson city officials, residents, education professionals and youth come together to create programming to engage, motivate and enrich the youth of the community.
Since January, Lacey has helped create the organization's web site and social media profiles to help further promote FYI events. And the effort recently received approval to create a Youth Advisory Board as a part of the city council.
She can be reached at (314) 977-2519 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
