After competing in a rigorous competitive bid process, Pepsi Beverages Company was awarded a ten year contract for the University's beverage business. Highlights of the Pepsi offer include: increased funding to University programs, enhanced product and marketing support to Billiken athletics, an improved sustainability and recycling program and a full, diverse line of beverages including Mountain Dew and Gatorade.
While this contract is considered exclusive, a limited amount of Coke product will be available for purchase at select on-campus retail locations to be specified at a later date.
The transition to Pepsi will take place over the next two weeks. During this time, current coolers, vending and fountain equipment will be replaced with new equipment and product. It is possible that Coke equipment may temporarily remain empty before new equipment arrives; patience during this process is greatly appreciated. Pepsi and Coke are working diligently to coordinate and complete the transition before classes begin on Jan. 18, 2011.
Departments should not close standing purchase orders with Coca-Cola until Jan. 18 when new Pepsi accounts will be established.
