SLU Graduate Honored with Ralph Henry Gabriel Prize
The director of the dissertation was Jonathan Smith, Ph.D. Other members of the committee were Susanne Wiedemann, Ph. D., and Matthew Mancini, Ph.D.
The Gabriel Prize is awarded annually for the best dissertation in American Studies, Ethnic Studies or American Women's Studies. Dissertations from any university, not just United States institutions, are eligible for consideration for the award. It is the highest form of recognition of graduate achievement in the field of American Studies.
Hawkins is currently a tenure-track assistant professor of history at Bradley University.
