Faith in College
College life, and spiritual life, at Saint Louis University.
Going to college doesn't mean leaving your spiritual identity behind, particularly at a Jesuit university.
Each Sunday, Saint Louis University has a student led mass. Students lead the prayers, readings and music. "It's more relaxed, you don't have to wear a button up and tie," says SLU student Martin. "You can just wear jeans and a shirt and you'll be fine. The music is really outgoing and upbeat and so it's really easy to get into."
Faith on Campus
Even students who are not Catholic are drawn to the community atmosphere at the mass. It hosts 800 to 1,000 people each week.
"It's really a great experience to be with all of the students on campus and really gather as you start the week," says another regular attendee.
A Regular Event
SLU's campus ministry encourages every student to express their faith and to develop it and show it. "I am actually Christian but not Catholic," says Amanda, a student who regularly attends the mass. "I sit with my friends. It's a great atmosphere."
