SLU Encounter Retreat
Register for the Fall 2012 Encounter here.
Nov. 9-11, 2012; March 22-24, 2013 (Manresa Center)
Seeking to deepen their encounter with Christ, self and others, retreatants explore the foundations of their faith in God and Jesus Christ. Led by a team of students, faculty and staff, these weekend retreats consist of talks, small group discussions, prayer, reconciliation, Eucharist and community building activities.
Vans for the retreat depart at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Students are back on campus around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Serving on SLU Encounter Team
Each semester students are selected for the presenting and support teams. Anyone who has participated in past Encounter retreats is welcome to apply. Please keep in mind that applying for the Team implies a weekly time commitment for the team meetings and time dedicated to the actual weekend. The team meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Dorothy Day Room of Wuller Hall. Team meetings begin 9 weeks before the retreat. On the weekend of the retreat, the team begins preparations for the retreat at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. After the retreat concludes on Sunday evening, the team is responsible for clean up for a few hours once the retreatants have left the facility. Please keep this in mind, especially if you have Friday classes.
As part of the application process, students submit a written application and are interviewed by the SLU Encounter Board.
In order that you are well prepared for the interview, please familiarize yourself with the "Encounter Team Interview Preparation Sheet." (pdf) You should come prepared to talk about your faith and how you will help others find Christ.
