Message from the Dean
The College of Education and Public Service at Saint Louis University can best be described as innovatively traditional.
As part of Saint Louis University, the College of Education and Public Service shares in the 400 year old Jesuit tradition of excellence in education. The tradition of Jesuit education focuses on the growth of the whole person - intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. But education is not viewed as an end in itself.
The purpose of Jesuit education is to develop men and women for others. This goal means that students, faculty and staff are all engaged in the common enterprise of bringing themselves and others to a fuller appreciation of the wonders of God's creation and achieving their full potential as human beings.
The College of Education and Public Service carries on this tradition of concern for others and personal commitment to the growth of the individual through innovative programs in our School of Social Work and our Departments of Counseling and Family Therapy, Education, and Public Policy Studies. Our school and departments share a commitment to intellectual rigor and the use of knowledge for the betterment of our community, locally, nationally and internationally.
So whether you are a student seeking an advanced degree in education, social work or public policy or a student embarking on a traditional undergraduate program that will help you serve your community, the College of Education and Public Service will provide you an innovatively traditional experience in keeping with the new 400 year old tradition of Jesuit education.
