Students who are declared in a major on the Medical Center are bound to the policies and procedures of their specific college and major. Any student who does not meet the expectations of his/her major and college are subject to probation and/or dismissal from the program. If a student is not meeting the expectations in some way, he/she will receive a letter from their academic department indicating their status in the program. To learn more about the expectations of your specific major, please contact your academic department.
It is important to note that the GPA requirements in the Medical Center majors are much higher than the minimum GPA required to remain in good standing at the University as a whole. Students need to maintain a 2.0 GPA to be considered a student in good standing at Saint Louis University, even if they fall below the GPA required for their major. Any student falling below a 2.0 minimum GPA are given two additional semesters to raise his/her GPA. After that, the student is subject to dismissal from Saint Louis University.
The Academic Advisors on the Medical Center can assist students in discussing strategies for success if they are on probation or have been dismissed from their program. It is imperative that students communicate openly with their advisor (and their academic department) in order to determine their next steps.
