Hope House was abuzz activity April 1 when nearly 200 students, faculty and staff from SLU's John Cook School of Business Service Leadership program spent the afternoon on restoration projects at the transitional housing complex for homeless families in St. Louis

Teams spread out across the building to clean out storage rooms and janitor's closets as well as paint lounge areas, laundry rooms and murals in the hallways.
Volunteers also spruced up green space outside Hope House with gardening and landscaping projects while others made fleece tie blankets for the child development center.
The group also donated and installed computers in the preschool facility and teen center.
In conjunction with SLU's homeless awareness week, Service Day co-chairs Allison Hopke and Christina Lu, coordinated a campus-wide hygiene and cleaning products drive. The 563 items donated by University students, faculty and staff will be delivered to Hope House next week.
This was the sixth year for the annual day of service.
