I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the School of Nursing at Saint Louis University. At the School of Nursing, we have a national reputation for our pioneering, innovative, and comprehensive BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD nursing education programs. The vision at the School is to continually build and sustain a culture of excellence in the areas of teaching, research, practice, and service.
We are one of the few nursing programs nationally with a curriculum consistent with the Institute of Medicine's recommendation for all health professionals of the 21st century; patient centered interdisciplinary teams are crucial in improving patient safety and other dimensions of quality of health care. We are the only undergraduate program with a core curriculum in interprofessional education.
We offer a distinct value-based, Catholic, Jesuit nursing education. Incorporated into the basic fabric of educational programs within the School are providing graduates with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to deliver competent care now and in the future.
Nursing is a wonderful field with ample opportunity. There are few other career choices with so many specialty options and clinical practice sites. Nurses can work in acute care, emergency nursing, public health clinics, school nursing, parish nursing, and ICU's. In addition to the practice component, with advanced degrees nurses can work as faculty or as nurse scientist. You will find that nursing is a rewarding career in which you will be able to make a positive difference in the life of another human being!
To be a nurse means that you can provide leadership and scholarship in the areas of practice, education, and research to enhance the health of all people. As you peruse our website, you will experience the rich heritage of the Jesuit values of the School of Nursing.
