Teaching: Dr. McLaughlin teaches in the accelerated nursing option. Her primary teaching assignments include adult medicine theory and clinical instruction. Prior teaching experiences include adult medicine theory and clinical instruction at the former Jewish Hospital School of Nursing.
Practice: Dr. McLaughlin has practiced nursing for 27 years. Her experiences have included bone marrow transplant, radiation oncology, and outpatient chemotherapy administration. She has practiced private duty home care nursing since 2003.
Research: Dr. McLaughlin's clinical research focus is taste dysfunction in head and neck cancer survivors. She is a 2014 Saint Louis University Presidents Research Fund Awardee and is currently pursuing a Master of Health Outcome Research and Evaluation Sciences.
Professional and Scholarly Activities: Dr. McLaughlin is a Nurse Leader Reviewer for Sigma Theta Tau International. She is a member of Oncology Nursing Society and is a Certified Oncology Nurse. Her past and funding includes the 2011 Oncology Nursing Society Roberta Scolfield Award and the 2012 Oncology Nursing Foundation Career Development Award. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society Research Advisory Panel/Quality, Evidence-Based Practice and Outcomes Subgroup.
