What is considered a Meal?
A meal is an all-you-can eat, cafeteria-style buffet. Meals can only be used at Reinert and Griesedieck dining halls or Terra Ve. Meals renew every Thursday and any unused meals will not carry over.
What is Flex?
Flex points come with the All Flex, 14-flex, 10-flex, 8-flex, and Commuter meal plans and are used to purchase food. Flex points should be used at times when "all-you-can eat" is not what you have in mind, or if you have used all of your meals for the week. Flex points will transfer from the fall semester to the spring semester. Any remaining at the end of the spring semester will be forfeited.
What is Bonus Flex?
Bonus Flex is just like Flex, with three exceptions: you buy these funds in addition to your meal plan, these funds do not expire at the end of the semester, and an additional "Bonus" is then added to the student's Bonus Flex account. These funds are on used in to purchase food.
What are Billiken Bucks?
Billiken Bucks is a debit account plan. The funds that you deposit can be used for purchases at IMC, Bannister House, Saint Louis University Bookstore (Barnes & Noble), Library (copying/printing), ITS software sales and all University Dining Services locations.
These funds never expire. You may close your account at any time by submitting your request in writing.
Am I required to have a meal plan?
St. Louis University requires all students living in a residence hall to purchase a Meal Plan. The University, in unique circumstances, may exempt a student from the required meal plan for documented medical conditions or religious dietary observance. It should be noted that all documentation must be submitted according to the Exemption Application in order for a request to be considered for that semester.
Any student commuting, or residing in an on-campus apartment are required to have a commuter meal plan. These meal plans are declining balance plans and are loaded with $150 Flex dollars. Unused balances will carry over from Fall to Spring semester, but not to summer sessions or the following academic year. The University, in unique circumstances, may exempt a student from the required commuter meal plan for documented conditions. The Commuter Meal Plan Exemption Request is due no later than two weeks after the start of the semester for which the exemption is being requested.
Does my meal plan expire?
Although flex points roll over from the fall semester to the spring semester, meal swipes expire at the end of the semester. All flex points will expire after the spring semester. Any flex points deposited during the summer will not expire until the next spring's semester.
How can I keep track of my meal plan?
There are several ways to view your balances.
• Bring your SLU Card into Parking and Card Services, 33 DuBourg Hall. We can print out a balance report for you.
• Swipe your SLU Card at any of the four (4) kiosks located on campus to retrieve your card balance.
• View balances online at: https://bbcom.slu.edu/webapps/login/ Create your account and submit. This will take you into your account. Here you may view your account balances, track your purchases, make card deposits, suspend your card, and view/update your profile.
