Physician Assistant Program
Welcome to the SLU PA Program!
On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the PA Program, welcome to the website of the Department of Physician Assistant Education at Saint Louis University!
The mission of the Saint Louis University PA Program is to educate men and women to become competent, compassionate physician assistants dedicated to excellence in health care and the service of humanity. To that end we create an educational environment that promotes an understanding of human needs and ethical issues as well as the acquisition and application of patient-oriented clinical knowledge and skills.
Saint Louis University's resources allow the PA program to draw on a vast network of experts in their respective fields for lectures and clinical experience. Our curriculum provides a broad foundation in the medical and surgical disciplines for students who are interested in primary, specialty or tertiary care. The program's didactic and clinical experiences foster intellectual curiosity and allow students to construct a comprehensive fund of knowledge while developing personal and professional responsibility.
In addition to their academic and clinical obligations, our students are involved in a variety of university and community service as well as national physician assistant activities. We feel that empowering students as socially responsible learners helps assure high quality care and advocacy for each patient whose life is touched by one of our students or graduates. We also understand that the balance between personal life and life as a PA student can be difficult so we strive to support, encourage and assure our students throughout their didactic and clinical training.
The SLU PA program is genuinely enriched by our students and the wide variety of life, educational and health care experiences they bring to us. We are continually amazed by the feedback we receive from lecturers and preceptors about our students' professionalism, eagerness to learn, academic prowess and clinical acumen!
