Back to School Prayer for Educators

As I step into a new academic year,
Restore my spirit.
Renew my passion for sharing your wisdom
And nurture my compassion
for those You put in my charge.

Transform me as I seek to transform:
Guide me as I seek to guide;
Open my mind and heart
As I seek to open minds and hearts
To the Good News of justice and peace.

Help me listen more deeply
To the world and to your Word,
So I can walk with my students,
Attentive to the Wisdom that
Calls us all to the Kingdom of God.

Prayer for Educational Institutions

Eternal God,
Bless all schools, colleges, and universities,
especially Saint Louis University,
that they may be lively centers for sound learning,
new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom;
and grant that those who teach and those who learn
may find you to be the source of all truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Commencement

Lord, on this “commencement” day, let there be a beginning of my life. In the days of darkness, be my Light, so that in turn I can radiate your truth and your message of love, hope, and joy. In the days of blandness and of blahs, Lord, be my Salt, so that in turn I can fend off the corruption, the staleness, the mediocrity around me. In the days when I am flat on my back or fall flat on my face, Lord, be my Leaven, so that not only can I rise again, but also raise the downhearted to the celebration of your Love. And Lord, thank You, for the school years, for the talents I have received.
Amen.

A Prayer for Graduation

Lord Jesus, you have said that your followers must be the light to the world. Light propagates itself, dispels darkness. It sows rays of joy and hope. It is lifegiving. Help me, Lord, to be a light to this world, so that my life radiates your message of love, hope, and joy.

May I be the beacon leading to You for those who seek truth.

An Easter Prayer

Risen Christ
As you stay with us
Open our eyes to see the needs in your world,
Open our ears to hear the cries
of the poor
of the suffering
the marginalized
give us the courage and the tenacity to take our spoken prayers into serious action.
Move us from our security, cast out our fears.
To take risks just like Jesus
And as you want us to do now
To walk with humankind
Knowing that you, Spirit of God, will support us.
As we meet you,
Re-assure
Re-new
And Re-commit us to a life of service
With no strings attached
Where we will stand for Justice and Peace.
Risen Christ, on this Easter Day, may things change because of us.
We, who are the Body of Christ, and the Spirit of God,
Called, through baptism, to heal the wounds within the Body of Christ
of our sisters and brothers in remarkable need.
Thank you, Lord, for your Easter invitation
to continue Your mission in Hope.

Amen.
