Service in the Community
In collaboration with the Center for Service and Community Engagement (CSCE), Campus Ministry offers students opportunities to reach out to the surrounding St. Louis community through service. To find out about one-time and ongoing service opportunities, fill out a service interest form today to meet with a CSCE staff member to discuss what opportunities are available in the community and are of interest to you.
Wondering what service opportunities are around campus? Click on the following map, which details some of our local community partners.
SLU InterFaith Alliance is a student organization that focuses on developing positive interfaith relations and providing all members of the SLU community with an opportunity to grow in their understanding of other faith traditions. By engaging in dialogue and community service, IFA brings people of all backgrounds together to build bridges of unity and peace. Through work with other faith-based CSO's, IFA seeks to unite the campus to through faith, rather than separating ourselves because of it. Stay up on interfaith discussions and check out IFA member Sara Rahim's blog.
If you are looking to join fellow students in ongoing service, social justice and reflection activities, here are two SERVE program partners that share this focus:
OneWorld is an organization that publishes a bi-annual magazine designed to emphasize unity by raising awareness of social injustice, inspiring action, and transforming our hearts, minds, and society. OneWorld exists to rediscover that, while we are many in our cultures, religions, and struggles, we are one in our common humanity. We yearn to remove the barriers of ignorance and injustice, because the most basic and unchanging truth that unites us is the infinite value of the human person. OneWorld emphasizes this unity by raising awareness of social injustice, inspiring action, and transforming our hearts, minds, and society. Contact OneWorld at email@example.com or visit their OneWorld's website to see their online issues.
SLUCORE SLUCORE is a student organization at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO. We provide dependable volunteers to the North St. Louis community. We strive to obtain a greater understanding and to form genuine relationships with the marginalized by spending 3 to 4 hours each week at a praxis site and through weekly small group reflections. Created and directed by students, SLUCORE has three primary goals: to connect reliable student volunteers to the North St. Louis community, to develop genuine relationships between our two communities, and to enrich students' experience by facilitating reflection and analysis on their engagement activities. Contact SLUCORE by emailing them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
