Study English for Academic Purposes in St. Louis and get to know some of the people and places that shaped the U.S. culture. Students will have the opportunity to visit:
- Hannibal: Mark Twain's home
- The Arch: Gateway to the West
- Defiance: Daniel Boone's last home
- Jesse James' hide- out
- T.H. Benton's murals
Using a central theme based on the exploration of cultural history, folklore, and sites within the Missouri region, the program will work on strengthening the English skills of international students and professionals. Classes will include conversation, reading, composition, cultural history, pronunciation and speaking skills.
The program will include a weekly movie and lecture series followed by a session that breaks into smaller groups with faculty-led discussions. We will be looking at how the media has manipulated events by comparing movies to documentaries. Also included within the program are weekly field trips designed to support and enhance the thematic structure of the curriculum.
Two levels: Intermediate and Advanced
