What can wellness and Vitality do for you?
Jacqueline Lanius, financial assistant-senior in the internal medicine administration office, began her personal journey in 2005 with a diagnosis of diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis.
Lanius challenged herself to change her life and, through diet and exercise - tracking her progress with her Fitbug, full-featured pedometer, has lost more than 100 pounds and is no longer considered a diabetic.
An added bonus is that Jacqueline's arthritis has seemingly disappeared and she no longer requires blood pressure medication. Her triglycerides and cholesterol levels are also normal for the first time in years.
The key to her success was her belief that she could change her course. She accomplished her goals with dedication and encourages others to "never give up hope" in their quest for a healthy lifestyle.
Lanius has shared her inspirational story to help others learn about the benefits of wellness and the Vitality program.
Throughout her awe-inspiring transformation, she earned Vitality Points that she can use to purchase books, electronics, apparel and more at the Vitality Mall for having regular checkups, health screenings and submitting her daily workouts online.
SLU employees can self-register for the Vitality Wellness program at powerofvitality.com and begin to write their own story today.
