In celebration of the William C. Wefel Center for Employment Law's 25th Anniversary, Saint Louis University School of Law will host Wilma Liebman, Former Chairperson and Member of the National Labor Relations Board.
President Obama designated Wilma B. Liebman to be Chairman of the NLRB on January 20, 2009. She served as Chairman until August 27, 2011, when her third term expired. She is currently a Visiting Professor at the College of Law and the School of Labor and Employment Relations, both at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She served as Professorial Lecturer in Law at George Washington University Law School, during the spring 2012 semester.
Ms. Liebman served as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from November 14, 1997 to August 27, 2011. She was first appointed by President Clinton and confirmed by the Senate to a five-year term and was later reappointed twice by President Bush. Ms. Liebman was the third longest serving Member of the NLRB in its 76-year history.
Ms. Liebman holds an A.B. degree from Barnard College and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Economic Policy Institute and a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and the American Law Institute.
