The Office of Research Development and Services (ORDS) will be offering several opportunities for grantsmanship education beginning Thursday, Sept. 29. The schedule and list of workshops are as follows.
General Grantsmanship Education
- Developing Grant Budgets
Noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the second floor conference room in Fusz Hall
Practice building appropriate budgets for your project, including salary calculations, fringe rates, indirect costs, subawards, tuition rates and a special focus on cross-fiscal year consideration.
"An Inside Look ..." Sponsor Series
These faculty-led panels feature Saint Louis University principal investigators who will share their experience as reviewers and successful applicants, guiding others in the dos and don'ts for preparing competitive applications to target agencies. The series kicked off with a session on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on August 31, co-sponsored with the SLU School of Medicine, Office of Faculty Development. Upcoming sessions include:

3:15 p.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in room 142 in Lecture Hall 1 of Schwittala Hall
- National Science Foundation (NSF)
3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in room 254 in Busch Student Center
Research Admin 101
These monthly sessions, held on the third Tuesday of every month, are designed for faculty and staff who anticipate submitting grants or contract applications through SLU. The session provides a very basic overview of the submission process, responsibilities of the principal investigator, compliance issues, and a demo of the required eRS system through which all grants and contracts must travel in order to receive University review and approval prior to submitting to an external sponsor or agency. Upcoming sessions are as follows:
