This fall 2011, 340 first-year students participated in 21 First-Year Interest Groups. FIGs are a co-enrollment option designed especially for first-time college students that offers the opportunity to enhance the learning experience at Saint Louis University by surrounding students with peers who share their academic interests.
Saint Louis University offered a handful of learning communities in the past; but beginning in 2007, the University offered a wider range of learning communities and implemented the FIG program. FIGs tend to be a fall-only experience while learning communities are for the full academic year. The number of students participating in LCs and FIGs has continued to grow as the numbers below show.
