As the world population continues to rise to an estimated 7 billion, public health professionals are challenged to confront health issues on local, national and international levels. Public health concerns are not just limited to local communities as the health issues of the 21st century are becoming increasingly global.
The College for Public Health & Social Justice is committed to these global issues as we are strategically structuring this new academic unit to address the health concerns of the global community. Our new director of global health, Elizabeth Schwaab, MPH, will be responsible for developing a strategic plan for the college's global presence and influence. It will be Schwaab's goal to build connections for collaboration in teaching, research and service across the globe.
Students will be able to receive the newest information on health outcomes from all across the globe including our public health "hubs" in Wuhan China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other sites that have a need.
These are just a few sites in which faculty, staff and students have engaged in global service.
