In an effort to support the mission of the Center for Global Citizenship, the Cross Cultural Center is hosting the Global Citizenship: Learn. Grow. Act. Exhibit November 4-8, 2013 in the Center for Global Citizenship. This exhibit will highlight students' experiences and understanding of global citizenship by profiling perspectives of their individual selves, others who are alike and different from them, and the shared responsibility to greater humanity. We hope to highlight how people seek, understand, and act out global citizenship in their daily lives.
The exhibit will also discuss the necessity to cultivate a world that protects cultural distinctiveness, values multicultural understanding, and works interdependently towards the greater common good within local and global contexts. Global Citizenship: Learn. Grow. Act. will yield opportunities engage the campus community on how to be a global citizen in their own communities, in St. Louis, and beyond. The Global Citizenship: Learn. Grow. Act. Exhibit is also hosted in celebration of Saint Louis University Diversity Awareness Month, which fosters awareness and respect for social, cultural, religious, and ideological diversity.
The exhibit will conclude with a panel on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2p-4pm in the Center for Global Citizenship. Members of the SLU community will discuss different perspectives on the potential to enhance global citizenship through interpersonal development, community participation, and global action.
The mission of the Center for Global Citizenship is to promote collaboration across the University to educate and engage the SLU community for global awareness, responsibility, and participation. The Center fosters the Jesuit mission through teaching, research, and service activities that provide local, national, and global linkages.
