Academic Decisions Webpage

April 7, 2020

Dear Faculty and Students of Saint Louis University,

Last week, I shared with you the updates to our undergraduate grading policies for the Spring 2020 term. Many of you have sent in additional questions regarding other academic changes for this semester, so I want to provide information about that today.

We have built a new web page as part of our COVID-19 website that outlines key academic decisions, including information on academic support for students, copyright considerations for classroom materials, and grading policy changes, among others. That information can be found here, and I want to call out a few key changes for your immediate attention.

Course Withdrawal Deadline

The deadline by which students may withdraw from a Spring 2020 course, in the main semester, with a “W” on their transcripts, has been extended to May 15, 2020.

Grading Policy Changes

In select undergraduate courses, we plan to allow our students the option of choosing from either a “pass/low pass/no pass” grading policy for individual courses, or the standard grading process. Please reference my April 3 update for more information. Graduate programs should reach out to their individual schools/colleges for additional guidance.

Final Grade Submission

The deadline for instructors to submit Final Grades, in the main semester, has been extended to May 22, 2020

As this unique situation continues to evolve, we will regularly update this page with additional information so you can make informed decisions about your delivery of and participation in your courses for the remainder of the Spring 2020 term.

I appreciate your flexibility and commitment to your courses as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time both for our University and around the world.

This week is Easter break with no classes on this long weekend. I hope this affords you some time to catch your breath, spend quality time with your family if you are home, or binge on Netflix in your apartment or residence hall.

Thank you, and God bless.
