Fitness

Saint Louis University offers Simon Recreation Center members tools and resources to improve their health and fitness.

Visit shopcampusrec.slu.edu to view current group fitness class offerings and register at no cost. Registration is required to hold your spot. Registration opens one week before each class.

Fitness Center Orientation

SLU students have the opportunity to become familiar with multiple fitness center spaces through complimentary fitness center orientations. Students can check in with the building supervisor or the fitness center attendant on duty and request an orientation.

IRON-SLU Triathlon

The goal of this program is to accumulate "Ironman" distances over a five-week period. This includes:

  • 2.4 miles swimming (32 lengths per week/4.5 lengths per day)
  • 112 miles bicycling (22.4 miles per week/3.2 miles per day)
  • 26.2 miles running (5.24 miles per week/.75 miles per day)

Participants accumulate mileage on their own and self-report their totals each week. All participants who actively engage in the program will earn an IRON-SLU shirt and are eligible for raffle prizes. IronSLU is held each year in early spring.

Research has shown the best way to adhere to an exercise program is through personal attention and guidance from a fitness professional. Our certified personal trainers will help you implement an exercise program that fits your lifestyle.

Our trainers will help you:

  • Design and implement a fitness program
  • Learn proper form and execution of specific exercises
  • Monitor weekly progress of program successes
