Global and Local Justice Initiative

Saint Louis University’s Global and Local Justice Initiative is an interdisciplinary program that examines the conditions and systems that advance and inhibit social justice.

The initiative considers social and political structures related to material welfare, racial and gender equality, individual human rights, peace, and other components of a just society.

We use teaching, research and service to push members of the Saint Louis University community to think of social justice beyond individual charities and toward the larger construction of a more just society.

Through our program, you’ll have the opportunity to pursue a minor in global and local social justice at the graduate level, as well as present your work at an annual conference.

The Global and Local Justice Initiative is supported by SLU’s departments of American studies, political science, sociology and anthropology, women's and gender Studies, and the School for Public Health and Social Justice. The program is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Center for Global Citizenship.
