Student Spotlight: Shreya Patel

Meet Shreya Patel! She is a senior neuroscience major at Saint Louis University who is also minoring in biology.

She is the assistant vice president of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the national health preprofessional honor society, where she leads a group of neuroscience majors within the organization. She is also the public relations chair for Nu Rho Psi, the neuroscience honor society, where her primary responsibility is strengthening the ties between SLU students and the community. She serves as a neuroscience peer mentor and participates on the Institute for Translational Neuroscience Trainee Committee.

Shreya is from from Carbondale, Illinois. She has spent her first three years fostering a love for neuroscience and the tight-knit community here at SLU. She assists in Parkinson's disease research under Jason Longhurst, Ph.D., in the Neuroimaging and Behavior Lab on the south campus. She also spends part of her free time volunteering at St. Louis Children's Hospital's Department of Therapy Services. She hopes to graduate in the Fall 2024 semester, become a neuro physical therapist, and own her own practice one day.

What Shreya loves most about SLU is how much the University encourages students to diversify their interests outside of one major to connect more deeply with multiple passions. Some of her most enjoyable classes at SLU were her printmaking and literature courses, which would have never been possible to experience without the push from the University to try new things.
