Global Academic Partnerships

HMEP-SLU and GEP-SLU scholarships are awarded to selected candidates from Central European countries or Greece to pursue a graduate business degree in the Executive Master of International Business Program at Saint Louis University. Scholarship awards cover full tuition costs in SLU's Chaifetz School graduate business program of the successful applicant's choice.

The scholarship also covers health insurance* and academic-related costs and fees. Student employment within the Chaifetz School of Business may also be available to scholarship recipients to supplement financial support.

The scholarship applies to the following program:

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants should have completed at least an undergraduate degree, preferably in economics, business, engineering or related fields, have two to three years of work experience, and must meet the admission requirements of Saint Louis University. The applicant’s career goals, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community engagement are pertinent for scholarship selection.

All applicants must be willing to take the TOEFL exam. Additional preferred requirements include:

  • Three years of work experience post undergraduate degree
  • Evidence of ongoing involvement with community service opportunities
  • GMAT required if applicant has less than three years of work experience

Application Process

The application process includes a series of interviews (in person or via Skype/Zoom) with SLU leaders. Finalists are notified in March. Applicants must also apply to the Chaifetz School of Business graduate degree program, and the scholarship award is contingent upon the recipient's acceptance into that program.

Additional Information

Visa Application

HMEP-SLU and GEP-SLU Scholars must secure an F-1 Visa to study in the United States. Applications are made through the U.S. Embassy and require an in-person interview at the Embassy. For details about the process and necessary documentation, please visit usembassy.gov. Visa-related fees are not covered by the scholarship.

Health Insurance

Saint Louis University requires student scholars to purchase health insurance, which is funded by HMEP-SLU or GEP-SLU. SLU provides health insurance information and applications during the orientation/onboarding process for enrollment.

*It is important to note that the health insurance policy does not cover optical and dental care. HMEP-SLU/GEP-SLU graduates completing internships through F-1 Visa post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) may need to purchase health insurance coverage at their own expense. SLU also requires proof of vaccination.

Necessary Vaccinations

Out-of-Pocket Costs

Participants in the program will incur additional expenses beyond those covered by the scholarships, including housing and meals. U.S. F-1 Visas allow students to work on campus while enrolled in a degree program. Graduate assistantships and work-study programs are available but are not guaranteed. Because related U.S. visa rules and regulations change over time, the most current and accurate information is provided to scholarship recipients by SLU. Additional program costs may include visa applications and vaccinations while in St. Louis. A laptop computer is also necessary for coursework.
