Duellman Named Interim Edward Jones Dean of the Chaifetz School of Business

Accounting Department Chair and Alfred V. Dunkin Professor of Accounting Scott Duellman, Ph.D., has been named interim Edward Jones Dean of the Chaifetz School of Business. His appointment is effective immediately.

Scott Duellman, Ph.D.Interim Provost Chester “Chet” Gillis announced the appointment at the Chaifetz School on Wednesday, September 25.

Duellman is an associate professor of accounting at the Chaifetz School and has been a member of the Saint Louis University faculty since 2010. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Syracuse University and served as assistant professor of accounting at State University of New York at Binghamton before joining SLU.

Prior to his appointment as interim dean, he served on the Chaifetz School’s Research and Scholarship Committee and Graduate Board. Duellman’s teaching has also been recognized by SLU students with Beta Gamma Sigma’s Outstanding Teaching Award, Beta Alpha Psi’s Outstanding Teaching Award and Student Government Association’s Faculty Excellence Award. He has also won multiple awards for his research which focuses on accounting conservatism, executive overconfidence and corporate governance.

Duellman takes over the role from former Edward Jones Dean Mark Higgins, Ph.D., who returned to the faculty as professor of accounting in August. A search committee chaired by SLU Law Dean William Johnson, J.D., is being formed to lead a national search for the Chaifetz School’s next Edward Jones Dean.
