Chaifetz School Recognizes 2022 Graduates at Pre-Commencement
The Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University will recognize 323 spring and summer 2022 graduates at the School’s annual Pre-Commencement ceremony on May 20 at 2:30 p.m. The event will livestream from Chaifetz Arena on slu.edu, the Chaifetz School’s Facebook page and Saint Louis University’s YouTube channel.
“As our graduates move on to the next stage of their lives, they should know that they are now, and will forever be, members of the Billiken community,” said Barnali Gupta, Edward Jones Dean of the Chaifetz School of Business. “The Chaifetz School stands ready to support these new alumni throughout their careers, with lifelong learning and career support, as they go from their first job to the C-Suite and beyond.”
The school will honor 194 undergraduate students and 129 graduate students earning
their degrees in spring and summer 2022 during the Chaifetz School ceremony. Graduates
will then join other members of the SLU community at the University Commencement Ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 21 at Chaifetz Arena.
“It is the purpose-filled, mission-driven environment that makes earning a business
degree from the Chaifetz School of Business so unique,” said graduating senior and
student pre-commencement speaker Marissa Oxendine. “In one way or another, we were
all called to Saint Louis University because the mission of being in service to humanity
for the greater good appealed to us.”
As an undergraduate, Oxendine co-founded AspireSTL, a student organization within
the Chaifetz School that aims to promote opportunities for women and minorities in
business. In 2021-2022, Chaifetz School students also established Billiken Career
Closet as a free resource for professional clothing on campus for SLU students and
created Mission Meets the Market Week as a week-long celebration of the School’s unique
mission to educate ethical business leaders for others.
Oxendine and her fellow graduates in the Chaifetz School’s Class of 2022 join a network of over 25,000 Chaifetz School alumni living around the world.
