SLU PA Program Names New Program Director

The Saint Louis University (SLU) Physician Assistant (PA) program recently named Genevieve DelRosario, MHS, PA-C, as its new Program Director. DelRosario replaced former Program Director Caroline Chang, MMS, PA-C, who transitioned to the newly created Associate Program Director for the SLU PA program.

DelRosario has been a member of the SLU PA program for 14 years and was eager to take on the leadership role.

“It is very exciting to take on this role, as well as extremely humbling,” DelRosario said. “I work with so many phenomenal students, staff and faculty members, and I want to do the best job I can in supporting them.”

In the coming years, DelRosario hopes the program can continue to build on its successes and expand its reach even more.

“I want to see us maintain our traditions of academic excellence and of supporting our students in the support of cura personalis. I would also love to see us become a national leader in the areas of student wellness and community service,” DelRosario said. “Saint Louis University is nationally known for its commitment to service and I think the PA program can be an even larger part of that than we have already been historically.”

Chairperson of the SLU Clinical Health Sciences department – the department which houses the PA program – Amy Harkins, MBA, Ph.D., explained how this transition will help set the PA program up for continued success in future years.

“I am very excited to have Genevieve DelRosario become Program Director of the SLU PA program. Genevieve has served as Clinical Coordinator for many years and brings a depth of perspective to the role of Program Director,” Dr. Harkins said. “She understands the delivery of the didactic and clinical phases of PA education and the process of accreditation.”

Dr. Harkins went on to praise previous Program Director, Caroline Chang, for her service to the program in that role for several years.

“I also want to recognize that Caroline Chang served as Program Director during some difficult transitional times in leadership of the DCHS, the department merger with Clinical Health Sciences, and helped move the program forward tremendously these last three years,” Dr. Harkins said. “Further, Caroline will continue to serve as the Associate Program Director, a new and greatly needed role in the PA Program. I believe that these two individuals together will create an impressive leadership team to navigate the Program in PA successfully through the next number of years.”
