GRACE Repository

Navigating the world of Catholic education with a child who has disabilities can be daunting, a journey often marked by uncertainty and a search for inclusive environments. Finding the right information and support shouldn't be another hurdle, but rather a readily available pathway to empowerment. Recognizing this critical need, GRACE: Growing Real Access to Catholic Education was formed at Saint Louis University.

This dedicated group of parents, advocates, and professionals understands the challenges firsthand, having experienced the complexities of advocating for children with diverse learning needs within the Catholic school system.

GRACE emerged from a shared desire to dismantle barriers and foster a more inclusive educational landscape. The founders, driven by compassion and a commitment to Catholic values, sought to bridge the information gap that often isolates families. They meticulously gathered critical resources, encompassing legal rights, practical strategies, and best practices for creating accessible learning environments. This comprehensive collection now resides as a vital component within The Herrmann Center for Innovative Catholic Education, a testament to the collaborative spirit that underpins GRACE's mission.

The partnership with The Herrmann Center amplifies GRACE's impact, providing a centralized hub for families and educators alike. This collaboration ensures that valuable information, from understanding service plans within a Catholic context to implementing universal design for learning (UDL) principles, is easily accessible. The resources empower families to confidently advocate for their children's needs, while equipping educators with the tools and knowledge necessary to create truly inclusive classrooms. GRACE, through this strategic alliance, is fostering a culture of acceptance and ensuring that the promise of Catholic education extends to every child, regardless of their abilities.
