Saint Louis University requires undergraduate students to live in residence halls or apartments on campus for their first four semesters.
Many juniors, seniors and graduate students also choose to live at SLU and for good reason — it gives you a chance to develop lifelong friendships with students from across the country and around the globe. All housing contracts and payments are paperless and can be completed online through mySLU.
Housing Deadlines and Dates
If you are a first-time, first-year student at SLU, you are guaranteed housing, but it will not be assigned until your enrollment deposit is paid and your housing contract is on file.
The priority deadline for new student housing at SLU is May 1.
Your enrollment deposit confirms your enrollment at Saint Louis University. Once it has been processed, you will have access to the housing contract.
Housing for new students is assigned based on the date you submit your contract, so the sooner you complete it, the better. Housing contracts open on November 1.
Find the 2020-2021 New Freshman Contract in the Student Housing section under the “Tools” tab of mySLU. Be ready to supply your personal information, including emergency contacts. You’ll also enter your housing and roommate preferences and choose a meal plan.
With the exception of learning community preferences, which cannot be changed after May 1, you can edit your housing contract — including meal plan, building or roommate options — in the Student Housing portal through June 30.
Roommate requests are made by entering your requested roommate's banner ID number on your housing contract. They must enter your banner ID on their housing contract as well to confirm the request.
If you don’t already have a roommate in mind, use RoomSync, our roommate matching software, between May 15 and June 30. You will receive an email from the housing office with your access code and instructions for setting up your profile.
You will receive your housing assignment by July 15 at your SLU email address. It will also be mailed to the permanent address you supply on your housing contract.

Current Student Housing
Housing contracts for rising sophomores open on January 28. Rising sophomores must complete a housing contract and deposit for the following year by March 1. Specialty housing contracts, including those for housing student staff and requests made for reasons of accessibility, learning communities, Greek housing or student athletes, are due by February 15. Rising sophomores will be assigned using their housing contract preferences and will receive their 2019-2020 housing assignment via SLU email by March 20.
Rising Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students
Rising juniors, seniors and graduate students can complete their housing contract for the next year as early as November 1 and choose a space through the Renew Your Room or Early Sign Up processes. Current on campus apartment residents will be able to choose to stay in the same apartment for the next year through the Renew Your Room process.
Sign up for the Renew Your Room process will take place on November 4-5 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Village Office and on November 6-7 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Marchetti East Office. Any eligible student may select a space at our Early Sign Up Housing Fest event on November 17 from 1 to 6 p.m. Location of this event will be released at 12noon on Nov 17 through email and social media accounts. Early Sign Up will continue at the housing office in DuBourg 157 during business hours through March 1.
Rising juniors and seniors who have completed their residency requirement and choose to continue living on campus will also receive a $2,000 housing scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. Just submit your housing contract through mySLU, then select which process you would like to go through to select your space.
If you are linked to a roommate or group of roommates on your housing contract, one person can select space for everyone, or your entire group can come to the housing office to select a space together.
Failure to complete necessary documents and procedures in a timely manner may mean you don’t get the assignment you want and could have financial consequences. If you don’t submit a housing contract by the deadline and are not required to live on campus, housing may not be available to you.
Students who are not Residency Required have 30 days from submission date to cancel their housing contract. When cancelling within the 30 days, a $200.00 cancellation fee will be applied. Cancellations outside of the 30 days will not be accepted. Written documentation must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org within the 30 days to cancel.
If you live with your parents or guardians within a 25-mile radius of campus, are over the age of 21, are married or have children, and have not yet signed a housing contract for the year, you may be eligible for an exemption to the housing requirement.
Exemptions must be requested by June 1 for new students and May 1 for current students, and are not guaranteed. You will receive an official decision in writing from the housing office.
