Borrowing and Interlibrary Loan for Faculty and Students

At the Vincent C. Immel Law Library there are four methods our faculty and students may use to request material from another library.

The four methods are:

Requesting books:

Start you search at the SLU catalog. Requests can be made via the SLU catalog using your banner ID number and PIN number. Create a pin number by clicking on “Forgot Your PIN.”

  • Books from Pius, the Medical Center, and the Locust Street Facility can all be requested via the SLU catalog.
  • There is no limit to the number of SLU items you can have on your account.

If the item is not in the SLU catalog, click on the MOBIUS link on the right side of the page. If you find the item you need, follow these steps to request:

  • Click on the Request button
  • Choose MOBIUS - Saint Louis University as your cluster
  • Enter your Banner ID number with three zeros in front
  • Choose your pickup location (SLU-Law Library)
  • Click Submit

If your item is not available in MOBIUS, click the Prospector box at the top of the screen and your search will be repeated again in the Prospector catalog. If you find the item you are looking for, follow these next steps to request:

  • Click on the Request It button
  • Choose MO-Saint Louis University
  • Enter your Banner ID with three zeroes in front
  • Choose your pickup location (SLU-Law Library)
  • Click Submit

You only can have 20 MOBIUS or Prospector items on your account at one time. Don’t use a MOBIUS or Prospector request on a SLU item.

Once your item has arrived, you will have seven days to pick it up if it is a SLU catalog request and 10 days if it is a MOBIUS or Prospector request.

Please be sure to leave all bands on the material as well as keep any paperwork that comes with the material. This paperwork has information that is essential in returning the material to the home library and may include any information about the condition in which the item was received.

Requesting articles:

Article requests are items we wish to have sent to us that do not need to be returned to the lending library. They include:

  • Journal articles
  • Chapter requests
  • Statute requests

First, check to see if the book or journal you need is available at the law library or electronically through the SLU catalog. If unavailable, and you have complete citation information, log in to ILLiad and submit an article request. For more information see our Interlibrary Loan page.

Interlibrary Loan Procedures

If you are unable to find material in the SLU, MOBIUS or Prospector catalogs, you may request and obtain it from other libraries through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

This service is only available to current SLU LAW faculty, staff and students.
