They were honored at a special reception Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the Louis Riethmann Jr. Pavilion attended by their families and friends along with faculty, staff members and fellow students and alumni.

“I think there’s something particularly special about our December graduates,” Dean William P. Johnson said in his remarks. “Some of you have successfully navigated or continue to navigate the challenges of dual-degree programs. … Some of you have encountered the sorts of challenges that life throws at us from time to time, curveballs that can be challenging to deal with under the best of circumstances. … Some of you are graduating from the part-time program, and you’ve juggled, in some cases, full-time jobs. You’ve juggled family obligations. You’ve juggled military service. You’ve juggled other sorts of commitments that command your time and energy and attention, and you’ve done it successfully.”

Johnson acknowledged the graduates’ hard work and accomplishments as well as the support and sacrifices that their loved ones have contributed over the past several years. He encouraged the students to take pride in the profession and to stay involved with SLU LAW.

Following his remarks, the five graduating students in attendance each stood for a moment to say a few words.

Congratulations to all of our December graduates: Stephen Adamsky, Juanita Arbelaez-Barrera, Christina Arrom, Josephine Butler, Kimberly Coleman, Katherine Doherty, Kristen Doerhoff, Erin Grant, John Hackett, Jeremey King and Scott Vermeer.
