Fund Your Research

Research at the Saint Louis University AHEAD Institute is made possible by a variety of funding sources, including ICTS Just-In-Time awards, departmental funding, SLU School of Medicine subsidies, internal grants, and external grants.

AHEAD's biostatistical core services are offered at a rate of $150 per hour. All projects receive an initial one-hour complementary consultation with a biostatistician and data manager, as needed.

Our dedicated AHEAD team actively assists primary investigators in their efforts to obtain funding through ICTS Just-In-Time awards and other grant opportunities. Together, we strive to actualize your research goals.

School of Medicine Subsidy

The SLU School of Medicine (SOM) removes barriers to access AHEAD services by providing a generous subsidy to SOM departments.

SOM departments are billed $75 per hour for AHEAD services, and SOM subsidizes the remainder of the cost at $75 per hour. Please note that this subsidy is available only to departments within SOM.

All primary investigators utilizing AHEAD services are responsible for confirming departmental funding throughout the duration of the research project. At any time, should departmental funding become unavailable, the primary investigator is responsible for informing AHEAD personnel, and we will work alongside you to explore other funding opportunities.

Internal SLU Grants

AHEAD services for internal SLU grants, including the Health Research Grant and the President’s Research Fund, are billed at $150 per hour.

External Grants

External grants have the option to budget AHEAD services at either $150 per hour or as percent effort salary support for a specific analyst.

Percent effort salary support must be greater than or equal to 5%. The optimal way to fund analytic time is grant-dependent and will be discussed in the initial consultation with AHEAD personnel.

If you are unsure how to secure funding to cover AHEAD services for your project, please reach out to us at ahead@health.slu.edu to find a solution.
