Award Descriptions
AOA Nominees: Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AΩA) is the honor medical society recognizing, advocating for, and inspiring physicians in the care of patients and promotion of health. Members epitomize professionalism, leadership, academic and clinical excellence, research, education, humanism, community service, and "being worthy to serve the suffering." The characteristics of an excellent physician include trustworthiness, character, ethical behavior, caring, knowledge, scholarship, proficiency in the doctor-patient relationship, leadership, compassion, empathy, altruism and servant leadership.
Cindy Fairchild Award- A staff member who has gone above and beyond to make the medical school and student endeavors run smoothly.
Excellence in Mentorship: A faculty member who has gone above and beyond to guide students through their medical education.
Humanism in Education: An educator who best demonstrates humanism and emphasizes the human side of medicine rather than the academic both in their teaching and in their personal example.
Pillar of Professionalism: An educator who displays exemplary conduct and promotes honesty, accountability and integrity.
Passion for Education: An educator who students feel has the biggest overall impact on them, who exemplifies the qualities of a professional medical educator. This is the highest award presented at SLU.
