Research

The Saint Louis University Psychiatry Residency Program highly encourages resident participation in scholarly activities.

We have a Chief Resident of Scholarly Activities to help guide our program’s mission for every resident to conduct at least one research project, present at a conference, and/or publish. Each resident also engages in patient safety and quality improvement educational modules throughout the first two years of residency.

PGY-3 residents engage in a research course in which the instructor aids the resident in the full development, implementation, analysis and final product of his/her quality improvement project, which must be completed by the end of PGY-4 year.

Scholarly activities are reviewed semi-annually in an effort for program leadership to help each resident find the most appropriate faculty mentor and engage in scholarly work interesting to each resident’s academic interests.  These scholarly pursuits often become the topic for the PGY-4’s required Grand Rounds presentation.
