Dombrowski Named Radiation Oncology Chair
ST. LOUIS -- John J. Dombrowski, M.D., Ph.D., was appointed chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, effective Aug. 1, 2016.
Dombrowski, a SLUCare physician, is a respected expert in the field of radiation oncology. His research interest is in the area of stereotactic radiotherapy for the brain, lung and prostate.
Dombrowski joined SLU’s medical faculty as an instructor in 2007 and currently holds
the rank of associate professor. He was appointed associate chair of the Department
of Radiation Oncology in 2012.
At SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, he was appointed director of radiation oncology services in 2015, having served as co-director since 2012.
Dombrowski received his medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2002. He completed a residency in radiation oncology in 2007 and served as co-chief resident in radiation oncology at the Loyola University Medical Center from 2006-2007.
Before his medical training, Dombrowski received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1994. He served as a research assistant in Cox Laboratory for Biomedical Engineering and Institute for Biosciences and Bioengineering at Rice University in Houston from 1994-98, and received his Ph.D. degree from Rice University in 1999.
