Class of 2020 Enters School of Medicine
The Saint Louis University School of Medicine's Class of 2020 celebrated its freshman convocation Sunday at St. Francis Xavier College Church.
Approximately 180 students were “cloaked” with their first clinical white coats, the symbol of the medical profession, in front of family and friends. The Class of 2020 is made up of 83 female students and 97 male students. Here are some other fun facts about this group.

Saint Louis University School of Medicine has a long tradition of excellence in teaching,
research and patient care. Established in 1836, the school has the distinction of
awarding the first medical degree west of the Mississippi River. Today, about 550
faculty members, 700 medical students and 550 residents in 48 graduate medical education
programs, including residencies, subspecialty residencies and fellowships, call SLU
home.
Med students at SLU conduct research on health topics including HIV and HPV. They can create entrepreuneral opportunities.
The school is a leading center of research in five key areas: cancer, infectious disease, liver disease, aging and brain disorders, and heart/lung disease.
