Antisdel Named Otolaryngology Chair

Jastin Antisdel, M.D., has been appointed chair of SLU’s department of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery in the School of Medicine.

Antisdel, an associate professor who had served as interim chair, is a nationally recognized leader in rhinology, treating SLUCare patients and conducting research on nasal and sinus diseases. He also is director of SLU’s otolaryngology residency.

Antisdel received his medical degree from SLU School of Medicine in 2004, where he also completed his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery in 2009. He completed a fellowship in rhinology – sinus surgery in 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia.

Antisdel directs SLU Sinus Institute, and he sees adult and pediatric patients for allergy testing and therapy, treatment of sinus and nasal disorders and sinus, nasal and skull base surgery.

He has been principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous research trials, whose work has been published in peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and monographs.

Antisdel also has served as a reviewer for several medical journals, including on a number of editorial review boards including LaryngoscopeAmerican Journal of Rhinology, Allergy and Rhinology, and the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology. He is active in the American Rhinologic Society, currently serving as chair of the By-Laws Committee and as a member of the Education Committee and Meeting Program Committee. 

His appointment took effect Jan. 1.
