Justin Daffron, S.J., Appointed to Lead Growth Strategy at SLU
President Fred P. Pestello has appointed Justin Daffron, S.J., as a Special Assistant to the President to focus on growth strategies for the University, effective Feb. 1.
Daffron (M.A. ’00) has previously served in leadership roles at Loyola University in Chicago, including Associate Provost for Strategic Planning and Academic Services and Vice President for Advancement. His experience also includes work with numerous educational governing boards including Xavier University, Spring Hill College and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
“I am pleased to have a person with senior leadership experience in Jesuit higher education, a deep commitment to our mission and a passion for this assignment leading our growth strategy. Fr. Daffron came highly recommended, particularly for his collaborative style of engagement,” said Pestello. “He will serve SLU well in this role.”
“As a graduate, I know how transformative a SLU education can be,” said Daffron. “My initial work will focus on working with the Executive Staff, deans and faculty leaders on potential areas of growth for the University.”
In developing strategies for growth, Daffron will work with vice presidents and academic leaders to look at all areas of the University, as well as look at what other institutions are doing and at the landscape for private higher education.
Daffron will also be involved in all strategic and senior-level discussions as a member of the President’s Coordinating Council and President’s Advisory Council. He will also have regular engagement with the President’s Cabinet.
