SLU Names Interim Dean of School of Education

Saint Louis University Provost Nancy Brickhouse, Ph.D., has appointed Molly Schaller, Ph.D., to serve as the interim dean of SLU’s School of Education. Her appointment is effective July 1. Schaller will succeed Ann Rule, Ph.D., who is retiring after 36 years of service to SLU.

Schaller brings 28 years of experience in Catholic higher education to SLU from the University of Dayton. An associate professor in the Department of Counselor Education and Human Services at Dayton, Schaller has served in multiple faculty and administrative roles, including chair of her home department and program chair for Dayton’s graduate programs in college student personnel and higher education administration. She also serves as a fellow for department chair development in Dayton’s Learning Teaching Center.

Beyond her substantial academic publication record, Schaller’s diverse scholarly work includes a significant number of invited presentations and service on several journal review boards, including the Journal of Catholic Higher Education and the Journal of Teaching and Learning.

The national search for the next permanent dean of the School of Education has officially commenced. Representatives from the Park Square search firm have already been on campus soliciting input from School of Education faculty and staff as well as other campus constituents.
