Future Home of Dolphin Pond Statues Selected

The concrete dolphins from the popular Dolphin Pond fountain on Saint Louis University's north campus will have a new home

More than 2,700 people took an online poll to weigh in on the dolphins’ future location. The “Grand Lawn” – the grassy area west adjacent to Grand Hall – was the clear winner with nearly 1,700 votes.

The quad area behind DuBourg Hall and the Laclede Park (near the Olive/Compton Garage) were also in the running.

The poll launched during Homecoming and Family Weekend. SLU’s President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., sought feedback on the dolphins' future location from members of the University community following conversations with SGA leaders.

Originally installed 26 years ago, the Dolphin Pond needed to be removed to make way for construction of the new Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building, which broke ground in October.

Design work for a new outdoor feature incorporating the dolphin statues has not been completed and a timeline for their return has yet to be set. Updates will be shared in the coming months.
