Saint Louis University has partnered with Lime to bring bike sharing to campus. The bikes will arrive on campus Wednesday, Nov. 28, and be available for use immediately.

Lime Bike

Lime will provide 20 bikes to the north campus and 15 bikes for the south campus. The bikes offer a flexible and green mode of transportation for students, staff and faculty.

The Lime bikes will be stationed at bike racks across campus, at the following locations:

North Campus

South Campus

Lime will restock the bike racks each morning between 12-5 a.m. with as many as four bikes at each location.

“We are excited to offer students an additional option for affordable transportation that promotes an active healthy lifestyle, aligns with sustainability, and enables students to enjoy using bikes without the hassle of maintenance or storage,” said Laura Forhan, director of facilities services at SLU.

In addition to the bikes, Lime will provide free helmets to students, faculty and staff who complete Trailnet bike safety courses. More information on the Trailnet courses will be announced in the coming weeks.

Kick-Off Event

SLU and Lime will hold a “Go Live” event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the main lobby of Busch Student Center. During the event, anyone who stops be the table and signs up for a Lime account will be entered into a raffle for a free helmet.

Sodexo will provide lime-infused water and a Lime representative will be on-hand to answer questions about the bikes and the app.

How to Use Lime

Download the Lime app for iPhone or Android, then follow the prompts to locate, unlock and ride a bike. Ride as far as you like, on or off campus. To end a ride, park the bike and push the red button on the rear wheel to lock the bike.

For safety’s sake, the bikes have front and rear lights that activate when you pedal. Wearing a helmet is always recommended.

Lime offers a 50 percent discount to anyone with a valid .edu email address, and the company also will offer drop-off and pickup of bikes — at no cost — for group rides.

Per University policy, Lime scooters and bikes are not allowed inside SLU buildings and rechargeable bikes and scooters cannot be charged using interior or exterior University electrical outlets.
