SLU 101 Prepares to Welcome New Billikens
05/15/2019
SLU 101, Saint Louis University’s summer orientation program, is just around the corner as members of the University community prepare to welcome incoming first-year students and their parents and families to campus.
Both the University and SLU 101 are welcoming a record number of freshmen for the 2019-2020 academic year, and SLU 101 sessions will be large.
“Fall 2019 will bring the largest, most diverse, and most academically talented class in SLU history,” University President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., said in a message to the SLU community.
Staff members, faculty and students are encouraged to help support SLU 101 students, new Billiken families and their guests, and to welcome them into the SLU community.
“A big thing is that every summer some parents and guests will ask me ‘Is everyone really this nice here?’ because of the interactions they have had throughout the campus during the SLU 101 program,” Susan Fanale, director of orientation, said.
SLU 101 Need-to-Knows
The program is one of SLU’s most effective ways for families to get to know the University and its community prior to the start of classes. The success of the program partly rests on the involvement and support from various campus offices and departments that welcome students and families, with families routinely praising SLU 101 student leaders, representatives from University departments and SLU faculty members.
