Fall 2021 Move-In: What to Know
08/17/2021
Saint Louis University’s newest Billikens will kick off their college journey during Fall Move-In.
First-year student Move-In will take place Thursday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Aug. 20. Returning SLU students will move back to campus Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 22.
Detailed information about Move-In day, including time slots, can be on the Housing and Residence Life website.
COVID-19 Testing and Safety Protocols
- Vaccinations are required. Fully vaccinated students traveling to SLU within the United States do not need to be tested for COVID-19 if they are not exhibiting symptoms.
- Optional COVID-19 testing for vaccinated students can be done by scheduling an appointment. Testing will be in Simon Recreation Center.
- As announced in a message to the SLU community, all residential students who have received an approved vaccine exemption and are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated, will need to be negative COVID-19 test.
- If unvaccinated students arrive on campus without proof of a negative COVID-19 test completed in the past 72 hours or without having submitted your saliva sample for the home test kit, you are required to be tested in Simon Rec prior to your Move-In.
- Masks are required on campus. Students and all members of their Move-In team must wear face masks inside all University buildings, including residence halls and apartment buildings. Face masks must cover your mouth and nose. A face shield is not a substitute for a face mask.
- If students are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms on Move-In day, they should not travel to campus, even if the symptoms are mild and even if they are vaccinated. Symptoms similar to those of a common cold may actually be COVID-19.
Move-In Answers
- Members of Oriflamme, the Department of Housing and Residence Life and resident advisors (RAs) will all be waiting to help arriving new Billikens and their families. Additionally, other staff members and student volunteers will be on hand to help with Move-In matters, directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, holding doors and managing elevators.
- For emergencies, members of the Department of Campus Safety (DPS) will be on hand.
- For any maintenance issues, including things like electrical or heating/cooling issues, in an on-campus residence hall or apartment, contact Facilities Services at 314-977-2955 or submit a facilities service request through MySLU.
How to Get Around During Move-In
- Traffic will be heavy on the streets surrounding campus on Move-In days. Faculty, staff members, students and other campus visitors should plan for extra time to get to and from campus locations.
- Laclede Avenue will be temporarily transformed into a one-way street from Spring Avenue to Grand Boulevard on Friday, Aug. 20.
- SLU community members who are not taking part in Move-In activities should avoid using Laclede Avenue during the week Move-In.
- Vehicles parked in Laclede Garage after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, through 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, will be asked to relocate their vehicles overnight to allow for the next day’s arrivals.
- Drivers should watch the road for extra pedestrians and golf carts, and proceed cautiously and slowly, as more people will be crossing streets in and around campus.
