Michael Vaughn, Ph.D., was recognized by Research.com on its Top 1,000 Scientists for 2023 as one of the most-cited researchers in the area of social sciences and humanities. The professor of social work was ranked 129th in the United States and 250th in the world, placing him in the top one percent of his peers.
“Saint Louis University and the School of Social Work are so very fortunate to have Michael on our faculty,” said Noelle Fearn, Ph.D., director of the School of Social Work. “Not only is he one of the best at SLU, but this confirms what we already know, that he is one of the best and brightest in the St. Louis region, the country and the world. But more importantly, he is an even better colleague, friend and mentor.”
Research.com’s ranking is based on the h-index, a metric that reflects the impact of researchers’ publications and citations.
Vaughn’s research includes clinical psychology, injury prevention, psychiatry, juvenile delinquency, suicide prevention and more. Throughout his career, he has had more than 2,400 citations in published papers and his research has been covered by national media such as CNN, NBC News, CBS News, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, National Public Radio, USA Today, Reuters, National Geographic and more.
