Saint Louis University and the Archdiocese of St. Louis will host a Solidarity Walk and Mass for immigrants and refugees on Sunday, Sept. 29, in conjunction with the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR).

Joseph G. Lipic Clock Tower

The Catholic Church celebrates WDMR, a day to remember and reflect on the experiences of migrants and refugees, annually on the last Sunday of September. This year’s theme is “God Walks With His People.”

The day will begin with an opening prayer at 1 p.m. at SLU’s Joseph G. Lipic Clock Tower. Brother Ken Homan, S.J. will welcome those in attendance and offer an opening prayer. Speakers at the Clock Tower include Ebony Chism, SLU program coordinator for the Jesuit Worldwide Learning program.

A prayerful procession to the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis for Mass should begin around 1:30 p.m. Auxiliary Bishop Mark S. Rivituso will then celebrate Mass at 2:30 p.m.

The walk and Mass are open to the public.
