New SLU TV Spot Airs During Olympics
During KSDK’s coverage of the 2016 Olympic Games, Saint Louis University debuted its latest television spot, “Commitment.” The 30-second ad — which features sweeping aerial footage of the campus, dramatic interior shots and dynamic student images — highlights the University’s brand promise, “Higher purpose. Greater good.”
“Commitment” is the latest in a series of television spots developed by University Marketing and Communications in partnership with Rogers Townsend, a local ad agency founded by a SLU alumnus.
Set against the backdrop of SLU’s beautiful urban campus, the spot offers prospective students and parents a dramatic visual representation of the SLU experience, focused in particular on how the University instills values in students and fosters in them the courage to live those values.
For the SLU marketing team, there was a natural alignment between the University’s commitment to serving a higher purpose while seeking the greater good and the Olympic motto of “Higher, Faster, Stronger.”
“Just as Olympians are striving for excellence, SLU’s faculty and students are encouraged to relentlessly pursue excellence in all facets of life at SLU,” said Mary Ann Grillo, director of University Marketing. “As we become an increasingly global University, the Olympics offer a timely reminder to celebrate the vast community served by SLU graduates around the world.”
The spot debuted during Friday evening’s opening ceremony and will re-air during KSDK’s primetime Olympic coverage on Tuesday, Aug. 9, Wednesday, Aug. 10, and Thursday, Aug. 11.
In addition to advertising during the games, SLU also had an opportunity to participate in one aspect of the “Road to Rio.” Last month SLUCare Physician Group served as official medical provider for the Olympic trials held in St. Louis at SLU’s own Chaifetz Arena.
