Midyear Commencement Details Announced

Midyear Commencement will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at Chaifetz Arena.

The event begins at 3 p.m. with the processional. (All faculty, students and administrators who will be part of the processional are asked to arrive at the arena by 2 p.m. that day.)

An hour-long reception on the arena concourse will immediately follow the ceremony.

This year’s Midyear Commencement will feature a student speaker. Students interested in applying for this honor should view the guidelines here and must submit their materials to Sue Chawszczewski, Ph.D., director of campus ministry, by Monday, Nov. 7.

The commencement address will be delivered by the recipient of this year’s Nancy McNeir Ring Award, the all-University teaching award sponsored by SLU’s chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu, the international Jesuit honor society. It is named for Ring, the University’s first dean of women. This year’s honoree will be announced later this semester.

In addition to the ceremony itself, the 9 p.m. Mass on Sunday, Dec. 4, at St. Francis Xavier College Church will recognize those students participating in Midyear Commencement.
